Today's Gakken SX-150 Stylus mod

Original SX-150 has a tiny metal made stylus.
This metal stylus is grinding carbon electrode during play, it may be wearing soon and making unwanted noise if you play this instrument harder. So, scratches on the surface of the carbon electrode are making rasping noise.

Since lead of a pencil has very good properties for electrode ( high conductivity, low hardness and low friction ), If you use a pencil instead of original metal stylus, you get much better silky smooth playability. It's low noise, low friction, long lasting carbon electrode...

Well, let's find STEADLER Mars technico 788C or equivalent leadholder.

This folder ( Steadler 788C ) has a plastic body and fully metal made inner mechanism that hold 2mm graphite lead. This construction ( surface of this holder is fully insulated and inner mechanism is conductive ) is very useful, almost perfect for SX-150 stylus replacement.

Very easy, insert a wire from SX-150 to inner metal tube of lead folder

.. and simply attach the push button...

..then let's play!

That's all, folks!
